Purpose: A non-profit organization such as Mill Creek Business Association receives many requests from other organizations and individuals for charitable donations to various causes. The purpose of this document is to create guidelines but not necessarily strict rules on which to base decisions regarding such requests.
GENERAL RULES
- The total amount of money in the budget which might be allotted to charitable donations will be decided by the Board at the beginning of the year. This amount may be amended during the year based on the balance in the Association’s account.
- The Board or a committee of its making will make final decisions as to which specific organizations and/or causes will be awarded contributions, and no individual member or Board member will make commitments for donations prior to a Board vote.
PRIORITIES
- Requests from non-profit or charity organizations whose purposes serve the entire community.
- Requests earmarking donations for specific purposes which would further the mission of the MCBA.
- Causes or specific programs which would benefit the community and/or the population of Mill Creek.
RESTRICTIONS
- Money to be used for personal gain.
- Money to be used for individual commercial entities.
- Political parties, bipartisan issues, or candidates.
