Park Needs Survey and Open House PDF Print E-mail
Written by Sherrie Ringstad - City of Mill Creek Planning Specialist
Friday, 13 November 2009 16:35

Mill Creek City staff is beginning a review of the Parks and Open Space Element of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The intent of the Parks and Open Space Element is to present goals and policies to guide acquisition, development and implementation of the City's Parks and Open Space program. The Parks and Open Space Plan contains the Level of Service (LOS) Standards and Facility Guidelines for parks and open space facilities, a list of needed and proposed facilities, as well as implementation strategies.

The Comprehensive Plan was originally created utilizing an extensive public participation process to determine the Community’s goals and establish a set of policies to implement those goals. The intent of the current review is to evaluate the adopted goals and policies to ensure that they still reflect the Community’s vision.

A critical component of the process is a Parks and Open Space Needs Assessment Survey, which is intended to evaluate the Community’s priorities and identify areas of the Comprehensive Plan that require updating. The survey is available on the City’s web site at www.cityofmillcreek.com – a “Park Needs Survey” button is on the right side of the City’s home page. If you would like a paper copy of the survey, contact Sherrie Ringstad at (425) 921-5717 or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Mill Creek residents are urged to take a few minutes to complete the survey and let us know what park, trail, and open space needs and issues are important to you.

In addition, the City will be hosting an Open House on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. This informal gathering will have displays showing current parks and open space facilities, information on issues regarding development of new facilities, copies of the survey will be available to fill out in person, and refreshments will be provided. The Parks and Recreation Board and staff will be on hand to answer questions and visit with you to get your ideas. Take this opportunity to find out about the City’s current plan, make your desires known and ensure that the City’s plan addresses your priorities. Survey responses will be invaluable in staff’s review of the Parks and Open Space Plan and will ensure that the Plan reflects the Community’s vision.

Mill Creek Little League Announces Sponsorship Opportunities

Mill Creek, WA - Mill Creek Little League is offering area businesses the opportunity to advertise at Freedom Field during the baseball season with our outfield banners. Space is limited and will be based on first come, first served so order yours today.

Mill Creek Little League currently serves almost 1000 young athletes in our baseball and softball sports programs. By offering this opportunity to area businesses Mill Creek Little League hopes to keep the baseball and softball experience open to all families in our community. To combat rising costs, all sponsorship donations will help fund the cost of managing over 75 teams and keeping the fields open and operating safely

Your banner will hang along the outfield fence and be seen by hundreds of Little League fans during games, invitationals, and playoffs.

Banners are 10 feet wide by 3 feet high with a forest green background and white script. The cost of an outfield banner is a $500.00 donation per season plus the cost of the banner. All banners will be custom made to coordinate with the City of Mill Creek and Mill Creek Little League. Banners will be displayed during the baseball season which runs March through July.

To view a picture of what your banner could look like, view other sponsorship opportunities or to order your custom banner please visit Millcreeklittleleague.com. For more sponsorship information contact John Gorski at (425) 418-5551.
